An Engineer Bringing Efficiency: Erika’s Story ⚙️

Hey, y’all!  Erika Gonzales here, Luna Brand Management’s Online Communications Editor!  Fair warning, I’m usually doin’ it for the ‘gram for our clients or tweeting out with character limits, so who knows where this blog is going!  Here is a quick bio on myself and what led me to Luna! I am from San Antonio, Texas where I grew up playing golf with my dad, went to St. Mary’s University to play golf, and graduated with an Engineering degree (I’m one of those weirdos that love math).  It was at St. Mary’s where I met Luna’s CEO, Christina, ten years ago. My “Luna Love Story” began then when Christina became my Delta Zeta sorority Big Sister and thoughts of working for my Big and the company she created were a very, very distant idea.  I always knew Christina was meant to do something big and always looked up to her, but I never thought I would be part of it! Fast forward years later, and Luna Brand Management is now my job that feels like home.
Since graduating college, I’ve taken on many roles from a manager at a staffing agency to wannabe Real Housewife (we’re all about having goals, right?) to my amazing husband Blake, and son, Jackson!  My biggest role has been as Jackson’s mom.  My son is 18 months old now, but when he was 4 months old, I made the decision to become a stay at home mom.  I never thought that was the route I would take professionally, but it felt so right.  Eventually, I wanted to return to working and get a piece of normalcy back.  At the most perfect time, I was given the opportunity to join the Luna Brand Management team last September!  I feel like this was exactly what I needed to do and where I needed to be.  With Luna, I am able to work from home, provide for my family, and be a very present mother to Jackson.
In my mind, I was going to start working, have this fun job, and have one of my best friends as the coolest boss ever.  That all remains true, but I got WAY more than I bargained for in the best way possible.  The Luna Brand Management team has been welcoming since day one.  Somehow, we are all miles and states away, yet so close at heart.  I didn’t think I could have work friends in a remote environment, but here we are!  I start every day on the most positive note with these girls between their friendly chats, emails, and messages about how they love the work we’re all doing.  Whenever I am unsure about what I am doing or the work I’ve created, I am met with praise, positivity, and reassurance, which is so refreshing.  I experience female empowerment like I’ve never seen before and have never felt so motivated and inspired to better myself personally and professionally.  These ladies and this opportunity were exactly what the doctor ordered for me to be living my best life. The best part of working with Luna Brand Management is the flexibility I have to work and be a mom.  Luckily, I am at the end of writing this blog because I have important business to tend to like bug hunting and airplane watching with Jackson!  See y’all on the ‘gram!
